Resetting your cars ECU

 

Recently we had a job to reset an electronic control unit (ECU) for a customers car as the dealer was unable to code a replacement one in.

The ECU was starting to fail due to the age of the car and it needed replacing.   New ones were no longer available so the only option was to get one from a wreckers. After tracking one down, the customer had to take their car to the dealer where they tried to code in the used ECU but failed.   This happened because the ECU is linked to the immobilizer system of the car and can not actually be diagnostically reset to be used again.

At Adelaide Automotive Locksmiths we were able to pull the replacement ECU apart and recode it and then we were able to program it into the car. After already being without their car for a month we were able to get the customers car going the same day we were called out.
